“Martha's call for personal responsibility and individual initiative provides a refreshing break from what too often is the lock-step opinion of the ethnic powers that be in California who look to government first to right every wrong and solve every problem.”

ABOUT MARTHA

Martha Montelongo Myers was the political commentator and host for Straight Talk with Martha, on News Talk AM 1460 KION radio for two years from January of 02 to November of 2004.

She is Mexican American, which means she is steeped in the culture that her parents and all of her extended family share, and she is passionate and an advocate for constitutionally protected liberties and freedom. She has particularly focused on policy which advances education reform, property rights, and limited government.

She firmly believes that after responsible and loving parenting, education is the first rung of the ladder out of poverty, choice in education empowers parents and empowered parents can more effectively advocate for their children.

Her focus also includes entrepreneurship, small business and health care related policy issues.

Martha is committed to empowering and advancing the strength and vitality of the emerging Mexican American middle class and business community and firmly believes the middle class is a fundamental cornerstone for a democracy to thrive and for people to live free.

CURRENT SHOW:

1460 AM KION Radio, serving Salinas, Monterey, Santa Cruz is back by poplular demand.  I join Mark Carbonero every Friday on the morning drive, for the Friday Morning Free for All.

February of 2007:

The Governator turned out not to be grounded in the principles of liberty and freedom, and his regard for Milton Friedman was perhaps a mere platitude.  It turns out today, he makes a good case for the importance of term limits.  He and a host of others who now occupy California's State Legislature.

Up until late October of 2004, I hosted a weekly ninety minute program called Straight Talk with Martha, on weekends on KION AM out of Salinas and covering Salinas, and the Monterey, and Santa Cruz areas for two years until the station changed over to music... Que pena.    It was fun!  Before that, I had a show on KOMY for a year in funky Santa Cruz, and did some TV on a local cable channel.

November of 2004:

I loved the CA Recall of 2003.  It was a rush from the beginning. I was ecstatic about the possibilities that started as a vision, then a movement and a confluence of leaders and courageous citizens and great timing and in the beginning, the pioneers and visionaries kept the hope alive and nurtured it with tireless effort and commitment until it became the perfect storm.... What a thrill!    Better than flying!  I loved being a part of it and joining with others in that historic accomplishment that drew comparisons to the Boston Tea Party.

I used my radio show, and went to media events and rallies, I did some print,  some TV, and some earned media coverage.  I love this special election we're having this November 8th.  I see it clearly as CA Recall, Part II....
